In this guide, we'll look at how to install the JSON API plugin on your Minecraft server.
The process involves creating a subdomain to connect to your server, for example: play.mydomain.com.
Introducing the JSONAPI plugin
JSONAPI is a plugin that enables you to link your website/shop to a Minecraft server in order to execute commands and exchange information (e.g. vote on the server, receive a reward, obtain the list of connected players, etc.). Most CMS already offer a pre-established link with JSONAPI.
Download the plugin
The first step is to download the Minecraft JSON API plugin.
You can download the version corresponding to your version of Minecraft by clicking on one of the following links:
Installing the plugin
To get started, you'll need to go to the Game Panel, to Configuration and then to File Management.
Then move the downloaded file to the plugins folder.
You'll need to restart your Minecraft server to generate the plugin configuration files.
Opening a port
For the plugin to work properly, you need to open a port. It all depends on your host, but with Hosterfy you can open a ticket to request an additional port or simply make the request via Discord.
To do this, join the Hosterfy Discord and make the command /port in the #command.
Billy will send you a private message with the assigned port.
Plugin configuration
Once the port has been assigned, go back to the plugins folder and access the JSONAPI plugin folder.
In the “config.yml” file, change the port to the one Billy sent you in a private message. Save the file.
In the “users.yml” file, modify the username and password. We strongly advise you to choose a very complex password to avoid any unpleasant surprises. Save the file.
Restart your Minecraft server one last time and your JSONAPI plugin is ready to use!
You can test it by clicking on this link.
Don't hesitate to ask on Discord Hosterfy if you encounter a problem!
