Valheim 1.0: the end of the adventure with Deep North
Announced at the PC Gaming Show on June 7, 2026, the 1.0 release marks the end of the early access period that began on February 2, 2021. With several million players, Valheim is already a monument of cooperative survival gaming, and this final version doesn't do things by halves.
Deep North is the eighth and final major biome in the game: a glacial region located at the far north of the map, which brings:
- New creatures, including Gammeltrolls and the Elakingar.
- A network of caves and underground dungeons to explore.
- The final boss, who concludes the journey of the warrior sent by Odin.
A quick tip: Iron Gate recommends starting from a new world to fully enjoy the reworked systems. But if you've already completed the Ashlands, you'll be able to keep your save and access Deep North in still-unexplored areas.
Full crossplay: the real game-changer
This is the first time Valheim has launched on PlayStation and Nintendo. On September 9, the game will be available simultaneously on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store, Linux, Mac), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2.
Most importantly, crossplay is fully integrated from day one: a PS5 player can join a world hosted on PC, an Xbox player can explore a game launched from a Switch 2, with no barriers whatsoever.
